The Blue Workhorse Week 2 College Football Top 25

East Carolina shocked the nation. After upsetting Virginia Tech in Week 1 using BeamerBall against coach Frank Beamer’s own squad, the Pirates thoroughly dominated the West Virginia Mountaineers just physically manhandling the preseason Big East front runner.

East Carolina’s quick start makes them the leading candidate to be the BCS buster this season and could potentially make the Conference USA championship game a battle of unbeaten squads between the Pirates and either Tulsa or Rice.

What if Utah or BYU also goes undefeated in the Mountain West Conference? What if Fresno State or Boise State goes undefeated in the Western Athletic Conference? If there were three undefeated BCS busters, what would the BCS do? The system might explode like a time bomb. Well, we’ll have to wait and see.

Another week means another re-evalution, and thus, we give you our new The Blue Workhorse College Football Top 25 after Week 2. Some things to note from this week’s rankings:

Fresno State Continues Cinderella Run

Legendary Rice coach Wayne Graham was accustomed to facing Fresno State (Rice was in the Western Athletic Conference with FSU from 1996-2005), but he had never played the Bulldogs in such a big game.

While Graham’s Rice Owls are making their 14th consecutive appearance in the national tournament and their third straight trip to Omaha, Fresno State slipped into the national tournament by winning the WAC Tournament, and the Bulldogs are making their first trip to Rosenblatt Stadium since 1991.

Nonetheless, the Mike Batesole-led Bulldogs outplayed Rice pounding them 17-5 behind a 14 hit attack and solid pitching by lefty Justin Wilson (7 IP, 2 ER).

College World Series Preview: Bracket Two

We’ve previously previewed each of the NCAA college baseball Regionals and the Super Regionals, and with Bracket One of the College World Series set to begin Saturday, it’s time we preview the teams that will be playing at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha for the chance to be crowned national champions.

Today, we preview Bracket Two, which will begin Sunday, giving you each teams’ projected starting lineup and projected pitching rotation, “Road to Omaha,” and some keys to success:

College Baseball Super Regionals Preview (Pt. 2)

College baseball’s super regionals start today at noon when North Carolina State takes on Georgia on ESPN. We give you the info you need to know, including how each team got to the super regionals, some keys to success, and our predictions, in our Super Regionals Preview (part 2 of 2: We’ve divided our preview into 2 parts with part 2 being the Saturday/Sunday/Monday series, which make up the right half of the official NCAA tournament bracket):

College Baseball Regional Previews: Houston, TX

On Monday, the NCAA announced the 64 collegiate baseball teams to earn the honor to be a part of the Division I national tournament, which will begin Friday at noon when the Missouri Tigers take on the Ole Miss Rebels. In preview of the regional tournaments that will be held this weekend, throughout the week we will examine each individual regional:

Houston Regional

1. Rice Owls (42-13) vs 4. Sam Houston State Bearkats (37-23)
2. Texas Longhorns (37-20) vs 3. St. John’s Red Storm (41-14)

**Winner to take on champion of College Station Regional.**
