College World Series Preview: Bracket One

We’ve previously previewed each of the NCAA college baseball Regionals and the Super Regionals, and with the College World Series set to begin Saturday, it’s time we preview the teams that will be playing at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha for the chance to be crowned national champions.

Today, we preview Bracket One giving you each teams’ projected starting lineup and projected pitching rotation, “Road to Omaha,” and some keys to success:

College Baseball Super Regionals Preview (Pt. 1)

College baseball’s super regionals start today at noon when North Carolina State takes on Georgia on ESPN. We give you the info you need to know, including how each team got to the super regionals, some keys to success, and our predictions, in our Super Regionals Preview (part 2 of 2: We’ve divided our preview into 2 parts with part 1 being the Friday/Saturday/Sunday series, which make up the left half of the official NCAA tournament bracket):

College Baseball Regional Previews: Coral Gables, FL

On Monday, the NCAA announced the 64 collegiate baseball teams to earn the honor to be a part of the Division I national tournament, which will begin Friday at noon when the Missouri Tigers take on the Ole Miss Rebels. In preview of the regional tournaments that will be held this weekend, our resident college baseball fanatic Rosenblogger examines each individual regional beginning with the Coral Gables Regional hosted by the national #1 seed Miami Hurricanes:

1. Miami Hurricanes (47-8) vs 4. Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (36-20)
2. Missouri Tigers (38-19) vs 3. Ole Miss Rebels (37-24)

NCAA ‘2nd Round Workhorse’ Candidates

The NCAA men’s basketball tournament is traditionally about great and, often improbable, team runs spurred by uncanny individual performances, and this year’s tournament has been no different. There have been upsets and a lot of near upsets as any of the four #2 seeds could tell you after their second round contests as they each had to battle down to the wire against three #7 seeds and a Goliath-slaying #10 seed in Davidson. Those contests each had their own outstanding performances.

But who had the most outstanding performance to make them worthy of the distinction of being named the ‘2nd Round Workhorse?’ Here are our candidates (in alphabetical order):

BW’s Candidates for NCAA ‘1st Round Workhorse’

There were several great games in the first round of this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament, whether it has been an upset (San Diego over Connecticut, Siena over Vanderbilt), a near upset (Duke surviving Belmont), or double-digit comebacks (Villanova over Clemson, Drake against Western Kentucky only to fall in OT), and each of the great games has had key players.

But who had the best game of the first round and has earned the right to be deemed the “1st Round Workhorse” or most outstanding performance of the first round of the NCAA tournament?
