The Blue Workhorse Week 1 NFL Power Rankings
Once again, we have contributed to the Sports Blog NFL Power Rankings being hosted by our buddy James over at NE Patriots Draft. Along with James, The Sports Dollar, My Sports Rumors, World of Isaac, and our site have ranked all 32 NFL teams.
The unanimous #1 selection? The Dallas Cowboys. But if you aren’t a Dallas Cowboys’ fan, where does your team rank? Well, go check out the Sports Blog NFL Power Rankings to find out.
In the mean time, here are our rankings for the Sports Blog NFL Power Rankings. Unlike, the other individual sites, we have multiple opinions combining to form our rankings as each of our four writers rank the teams, which combined form The Blue Workhorse NFL Power Rankings: Week One.
If you have forgotten how we ranked the teams before the season, check out last week’s Preseason NFL Power Rankings from a couple of weeks ago.
Some things to note from this week’s NFL power rankings:
- After being tied for 2nd last week, Dallas makes the jump to #1 after handily defeating Cleveland.
- Last week’s #1, New England, defeated the Chiefs but still lost. They lost All-World quarterback Tom Brady and, because of that, 3 spots in our rankings.
- However, the Pats aren’t the only team to win in the standings but lose in our power rankings. Arizona won 23-13 over San Fran but dropped three spots. It wasn’t necessarily anything Arizona did but more what other some other teams did better.
- One of those teams, Carolina, did the unexpected and knocked off the previously #7 Chargers on the road with a last second TD toss by Jake Delhomme. The win propelled the Panthers 10 spots (the most of any team) in our rankings.
- The biggest loser? We definitely expected more from Seattle (-8) and Cincinnati (-9) and especially the Carson Palmer-led Bengals’ offense. Nevertheless, we were disappointed in each, and this week’s rankings represent that.
NOTE: Due to unexpected delays, we were unable to include DRang’s rankings in our rankings we supplied for this week’s Sports Blog NFL Rankings. Therefore, there are a few slight differences in the rankings found here and the one’s we submitted for the official rankings.
