The compiled Week 0 rankings from NE Patriots Draft, The Sports Dollar, My Sports Rumors, World of Isaac, and our site can be found over here at our buddy James’s site NE Patriots Draft.
However, here is our rankings for the Sports Blog NFL Power Rankings, and each of our four individual writers rankings, which combined form The Blue Workhorse NFL Power Rankings: Week Zero. If you have forgotten how we ranked the teams originally, check out our first Preseason NFL Power Rankings from a couple of weeks ago.
Below the rankings, we have also given some short notes on each of the 32 NFL teams, so check out what quick observations we have made about your favorite team(s) as they prepare for their first regular season game in the upcoming week.
Short preseason notes on all 32 teams:
1. New England Patriots – Brady should be back running the offensive show for Week 1.
2. Dallas Cowboys – Romo and Co. are back to redeem early 2008 playoff exit.
3. Indianapolis Colts – Manning cleared to practice, may take time to get going in ’08.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars – Great rushing attack with the underrated Garrard
5. San Diego Chargers – Merriman injury big blow to Super Bowl contenders.
6. Minnesota Vikings – Could emerge as legit Super Bowl contenders depending on the play of Tarvaris Jackson
7. Pittsburgh Steelers – Returning Big Ben and leagues number one “D”
8. New York Giants – Defending champs want to show ’08 was no fluke; loss of Umenyiora could eventually cripple defense
9. Seattle Seahawks – Julius Jones addition could be great; a team no one is talking much about
10. Cleveland Browns – Need Anderson to return to Pro-Bowl form
11. Green Bay Packers – Great overall team around new QB Rogers, so it’s all on him
12. Philadelphia Eagles – Westbrook is one of the games great all-purpose backs; McNabb appears healthy
13. Tennessee Titans – Can Vince improve after disappointing season?
14. Houston Texans – Need Matt Schaub to play well
15. New Orleans Saints – Brees needs to cut down on the INT’s; Reggie Bush needs to become a player worthy of the #2 overall pick
16. Arizona Cardinals – Old man Warner will lead team while pretty boy Leinart waits in the wings
17. Washington Redskins – Does Zorn have something special brewing?
18. Denver Broncos – Have to get the zone rushing attack going early and Cutler needs to show his mettle
19. New York Jets – Adding future Hall-of-Fame QB Brett Favre helps the Jets jump 12 spots on our list
20. Cincinnati Bengals – Need to find another receiver; tried to trade Rudi Johnson, didn’t work out, so they cut him
21. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Need defense to play fast
22. Carolina Panthers – Could have nice rushing attack with Williams and Stewart
23. Detroit Lions – Two words: Fire Millen
24. Buffalo Bills – Some believe they could emerge as a sleeper
25. Chicago Bears – Orton and Forte have to step up; their “D” can only do so much
26. San Francisco 49ers – Mad Scientist Martz will make “O” fun
27. Oakland Raiders – McFadden and Russell need to grow up fast
28. St. Louis Rams – Need greatest show on turf to return
29. Baltimore Ravens – Can D maintain high level of intensity and win games; no QB looked very impressive during the preseason
30. Miami Dolphins – Major rebuilding project, Big Tuna is up for it
31. Atlanta Falcons – Atlanta has handed over the reins to the rookie, so let the Matt Ryan era begin ASAP
32. Kansas City Chiefs – Larry Johnson needs to return to form for the Chiefs to be competitive
