So you want to know who is going to win the big games this week? You’ve come to the right place.

There are some huge games this week that definitely have national title implications and other games that will have conference title implications.

Missouri at Texas

The biggest of these games is the Big XII matchup between the Texas Longhorns and Missouri Tigers, ranked #1 and #12 in The Blue Workhorse Top 25.

Texas is coming off a huge monumental win over Oklahoma that not only gave them a coveted win in the Red River Rivalry but also propelled them to the top of the polls and propelled Colt McCoy to the forefront of the Heisman Trophy discussion.

Missouri, on the other hand, is coming off a disappointing loss to Oklahoma State in a game that saw former Heisman frontrunner Chase Daniel throw 3 interceptions. However, Daniel was wearing #25 to honor a former teammate who had passed away, and he has been the best QB in the nation in his #10 jersey.

Texas has the homefield advantage, but with Daniel back wearing #10 and Texas having an early letdown after the win last week, expect Missouri to pull off the mild upset in a high scoring affair.

Kansas at Oklahoma

Kansas will have their hands full with a Sooners squad that is coming off the upsetting loss to their rival. The Sooners will put a lot of points on the board and Jayhawks’ quarterback Todd Reesing will be seeing a lot of pressure. However, Reesing is a mature and mobile QB who is used to having pressure in his face.

A win for the Jayhawks could push them into the national spotlight and into contention for the Big XII North title while a Sooners loss would make a Big XII title nearly impossible. They may not cover a huge spread (19 1/2), but Oklahoma will be victorious.

Vanderbilt at Georgia

Vandy was the darling and talk of the country after defeating Auburn two weeks ago. Then they turned the ball over against Mississippi State and took a devastating 17-14 loss last week. How will they respond to their first loss?

It may not matter how they respond as the Commodores will have their hands full with a Georgia squad that has seen improved offensive line play even in the midst of seeing yet another player go down to injury. Georgia will have their fourth different starter at left tackle, but the Bulldogs will still be able to run the ball and will grind down Vanderbilt. Georgia wins but doesn’t cover the 14 1/2 spread.

Ohio State at Michigan State

Ohio State is trying to win their 5th straight after the trouncing they received in LA. Terrell Pryor and the Buckeye offense looked shaky against a pitiful Purdue defense last week.

Michigan State is looking to win their 7th consecutive game for the first time in 30 years. They’ve won thanks to the legs of Javon Ringer. Ringer has been an absolute workhorse averaging over 35 carries per game. He also leads the nation in rushing yards (1112) and touchdowns (14).

Unfortunately for Sparty, Ohio State has shut down Ringer in the past and will do so once again as Pryor gets his first big win. Ohio State wins big.

Virginia Tech at Boston College

Boston College and Virginia Tech hooked up for two classics last season with a Matt Ryan pass deciding both: Ryan led two late drives and passed for his second TD in the waning moments as BC won the first contest 14-10 & when the two squads played in the conference championship game, Ryan had a pass picked off and returned for a touchdown in the fourth quarter that helped seal a VT win.

However, Ryan is now sporting the red and black of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, and Chris Crane is taking the snaps for the Eagles. The Hokies have had their own QB changeover as Tyrod Taylor was going to be reshirted for this season but was given the starting nod after Sean Glennon’s inconsistency.

Since Taylor has taken over, Virginia Tech is 5-0 and have won a pair of tight ACC contests. Even though they are somehow the underdog, the Hokies will take another tight conference battle this week.

Other Top 25 Picks:

  • Alabama over Ole Miss in a close game.
  • Penn State blows out Michigan showing them how to truly run the spread.
  • There is no telling how many points USC may put up on Washington St.
  • Texas Tech over a bad Texas A&M team.
  • Watch out for Baylor against Oklahoma State. Could be a letdown upset for the Cowboys.
  • Spurrier and South Carolina take down LSU at home.
  • Utah over Colorado State.
  • USF big over Syracuse.
  • Virginia will give UNC a run for their money, especially since Brandon Tate is out for the Tar Heels.
  • Wake Forest wins a close one against Maryland.
  • Tulsa puts up big numbers, once again, against UTEP
  • Georgia Tech travels to Death Valley and is upended by the new coaching staff at Clemson.
  • Cal handles Arizona in a Pac-10 showdown.

Let us know who you think will win.
