Bobby is Back!
While flipping through the channels on Friday night around 5 o’clock, I just happened to put it on ESPN and settled down to watch the UCLA Bruins basketball team, coming off a heart-breaking loss to unranked Michigan, take on the Salukis of Southern Illiois.
I just figured this would be another broadcast, until I heard who was color commentating. Yes, my ears instantly recognized the voice of one chair-throwin’, player chokin’ and hell of a basketball coach named Bob Knight.
Since Bobby was doing the game, I figured I would just watch and listen a little. Even though his timing seemed off a little throughout the contest, the basketball sense Knight brought to the broadcast was great.
The man is a truly smart and genuine basketball man, and he went in-depth in concepts such as defensive philosophy, passing angles, and in-bounds offense and defense. Adding in some humor along the way as the Bruins defeated the Salukis, I think Kinght did a great job Friday night and will continue to do a great job with the telecasts.
It has been made public that he will work with Brent Musberger (once Brent completes his football obligations), and these two talking and working together should create a good, if not great, broadcast team. I think most fans, like me, will look forward to watching the games Knight does because of the humor and in-depth basketball perspective he can bring to the table.
So the next time you are flipping through and land on some college hoops on ESPN and hear the infamous voice that once said he wanted to be buried upside down so the critics could kiss his ass, take a couple of minutes or two hours and see what you think of Bobby being back.

You are all over it DRang. The General is extremely entertaining, and does bring an incredible insight to the broadcasts.
