That’s right folks, we’re hitting the road. As of Thursday night/early Friday morning, half of the staff of this site along with three other companions will be on the road for half a day as we travel to New York City (well, technically we are staying in New Jersey).

Why drive 10-15 hours? Why travel to New York?

It’s actually quite simple: the hallowed grounds of the “House that Ruth Built” - Yankee Stadium.

We’re headed up for the final three games (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) of the Yankees four game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (yea, I struggle to write that out every time…it was so much simpler when they were the California Angels).

Planning everything for a weekend sports trip of this magnitude takes some time and effort, which is one reason why there haven’t been as many articles on the site in the last week. (Even though the trip was thought up long ago and the game tickets were purchased over a month ago, the majority of the planning of the specifics has occurred in the last week.)

A trip several states away (our crew hails from various states) also takes some $$, so extra hours at work is another reason for the recent dip in articles. However, this is not an open apology to our readers.

No, instead, I plan to use the knowledge I have gained throughout the process of this trip to create a series of articles that will help you in the future if perchance you decide to take in a ball game or even go on your own non-romantic, non-beach filled, but much more awesome hot dog and brew filled weekend of sports viewing.

In this series of articles, that will likely be posted over the course of the next two weeks, I will attempt to  break down the following topics and questions while enlightening you with helpful insights:

  • The Destination(s) - The main attraction; Getting the most out of your trip
  • The Crew - Determining who’s on and who’s off the invite list
  • Tickets - Where to look? What to consider?
  • Sleeping Arrangements - Hotel? Hostel? Car? Friend of a Friend of a Friend’s Uncle?
  • Travel - Getting to the destination; getting around town
  • Guide(s) - Human or Computer; What do you want from them?

So look forward to this series, along with articles from our trek North over the course of the next two weeks. Hell, you can even sign up to receive updates of our writings by RSS or e-mail so that you don’t miss anything.
