Same Ol’ Atlanta Hawks

For a team that has failed to make the playoffs for 9 years, Atlanta Hawks’ fans finally were supposed to have something to look forward to — a veteran point guard, who is capable of pushing the ball in the open court and distributing in transition, in Mike Bibby.

Instead, Hawks’ fan (only in the Atlanta or Los Angeles areas of course) were treated to an absolutely abysmal performance Tuesday night! The LA Lakers mopped the floor with the Hawks to the tune of a 122-93 thumping.

A Weekend in LA…and why Justin Timberlake sucks

There is a lot of shit going down in the world of sports. The NBA had its All-Star game, which features the tallest and least sloppy basketball players from across the country. Clemens (and his wife?) allegedly used steroids, but just for better sex, so I can condone.

With all this excitement in the sports realm, it makes almost too much sense that I would want to talk about Justin Timberlake, Erik Estrada (the guy from “Chips”), snowboarding, and Rockband.

Phillies’ Brett Myers Punks Kyle Kendrick

In his rookie season, Philadelphia Phillies’ starter Kyle Kendrick’s career got off to a great start after a mid-season call up when he went 10-4 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 129 IP over 20 starts. Kendrick was even throwing well enough for manager Charlie Manuel to give him the nod to start Game 2 of the Divisional Series against the Colorado Rockies, who would go on to win the National League crown.

But nothing from his rookie season prepared Kendrick for a trade that would send him half way around the globe…

Dwight Howard may really be Superman

Dwight Howard may really be Superman, and even if he isn’t, he at least knows the keys to winning a Slam Dunk Competition and he showed them last night in New Orleans.

Last night was the most innovative and creative dunk contest of recent memory. Not since 2000 when Vince Carter absolutely rocked the house in Oakland after the dunk contest had been on hiatus for a couple of years has the contest been as fun.

Superbowl XLII: A Patriots Fan’s Road to Recovery

I am aware the Superbowl has been said and done for nearly two weeks now, but as a proud Patriots’ fan, I am just now beginning to grasp what has happened.

They are the Patriots, and the Patriots win, period, but as I think more about it, the signs of Armageddon were everywhere…

The ‘Fortunate Fan’ (What’s your ‘FF’ Story?)

I’ve been lucky enough to be in attendance for a string of great games…

Now that you’ve heard about my ‘fortunate fan’ experience, let’s hear about your best ‘fortunate fan’ story.

What great game or unforgettable moment were you able to be in attendance for?

Bring Back Bobby!

…news of Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson being involved (ONCE AGAIN!) for recruiting violations may have flown somewhat under the radar.

But with the recent allegations against Sampson, the question of ‘What is really valued in college athletics?’ is raised.

Fantasy Report: Analyzing Erik Bedard

In terms of a fantasy impact, expect his rations to be solid again this year. Bedard posted a WHIP of 1.09 and his BAA (Batting Average Against) fell from .258 to .212 (from 2006 to 2007), while pitching in the tough American League East where he was facing the monstrous lineups of New York and Boston.

Bedard brings a deceptive delivery with a plus fastball, and teaming with Mel Stottlemyre, Seattle’s new pitching coach, should help him as well.
