College Football Predictions: Week 14

My selections last week were pretty good. I only missed two games. Of course, I did miss the big one. I thought Texas Tech would at least put on a better showing in Norman.

This week, however, I’ve got all the winners with a couple of unexpected upsets during Rivalry Week:

#3 Oklahoma at #12 Oklahoma State

There will be Bedlam in Stillwater this year. This year’s rivalry game may have the most riding on it in the history of the series. Oklahoma comes into the game with the apparent advantage and fast track in the Big XII South. With a win, the Sooners should be have the advantage in the BCS standings and, therefore, win the tiebreaker between themselves, Texas, and Texas Tech.

Week 13 College Football Observations

It has been a while since I’ve been free on a Saturday and able to make my weekly college football observations. I’ve only had like two days off in the last 3 1/2 weeks, so needless to say, I haven’t had an overabundance of free time.

This week, I tried to make some observations, but I also had to fight off the sleep from working the night before and having to work Saturday night as well. What that amounted to was my viewing of the entirety of the early games, the very beginning of the midday games, and a little bit of the late games before heading back to work.

There were some huge matchups for the top 10 teams, including Oklahoma’s dismantling of Texas Tech, but here are 28 observations about certain players and teams from 7 of Saturday’s games I was able to catch in between napping and work:

Is Sam Bradford still throwing touchdowns? Because that seemed to be the only thing he could do on Saturday night. Oklahoma’s dominating performance against Texas Tech shakes up our rankings a bit and makes the BCS even more confusing.

College Football Predictions: Week 13 (Part I)

My selections the last two weeks have been lackluster at best, but with the more crucial the games…the better I have been this year, so I’m looking for a big week with some big time Top 5 and Top 15 matchups this weekend.

So what kind of predictions do I have this week? Probably the best you’ve ever seen, but we’ll start with Wednesday and Thursday nights games in Part I (with predictions for Saturday’s gamesto be released in Part II on Friday)

#15 Ball State at Central Michigan

2008 College Hoops Preseason Top 25 Quick Guide

The college basketball season started last week, but it gets going full speed today with ESPN’s first annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon, which technically started last night when Memphis took down UMass 80-58 in a game that started at midnight (Eastern Time at least).

The Blue Workhorse Week 12 College Football Top 25

While their weren’t any true marquee games this week, Oregon State did beat Cal positioning themselves even further for the Pac-10 title. Coach Mike Riley has quietly put together a solid season after the Beavers started terribly slow.

In other conference races: no one wants to win the ACC; the Big 10 is Penn State’s to lose; the SEC & WAC races are already over; and the Big East, Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt, and Big XII could be all but determined this weekend.

Congrats to Rosenblogger and his Vanderbilt Commodores as they have become bowl eligible for the first time in his lifetime. Bobby Johnson is a great coach who wins the right way, and we applaud his accomplishment.

College Football Predictions: Week 12

I didn’t have my best showing last week, but I’m bound to rebound with authority this week. Unfortunately, there aren’t any true blockbuster games like there have been almost every weekend for the past month or so.

Nonetheless, there still are some intriguing matchups this week.

So what kind of predictions do I have this week? Probably not any good ones, but here they are:

The Blue Workhorse Week 11 College Football Top 25

Texas Tech was impressive once again as they dominated a strong Oklahoma State team 56-20. Alabama escaped a tough road contest in Baton Rouge. Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma all were dominant in conference wins.

The big upset, however, came in Kinnick Stadium as the Iowa Hawkeyes knocked off former BCS top contender Penn State thanks to Daniel Murray’s game-winning kick.
