I also think that Pat Summitt could not coach a “men’s” college basketball team - for a simple reason. She would not put up with the self-centered and childish crap that those “men” would try to subject her to, nor would she allow players to play if they screwed up their academics. So, more than likely she’d have no team…

Summitt was asked once if she’d want to coach a man’s team. She showed no interest. Not because she couldn’t do it, but because she didn’t consider it a “step up.”

The writer read the two quotes in blue and came up with “Basically, Coach Pearl said he lied to his players during the final minutes of a NCAA tournament game, and the University of Tennessee could never get another coach to come here if he decided to leave.”

This person either dislikes Pearl on a personal level or has a major agenda, because no, he said no such thing and no objective person could even approach that conclusion.

I’m guessing the Jerry Green comment is a hint to where the bias comes from, but whatever the source, this really doesn’t belong anyhere other than a Kentucky fan site. Never read this blog before (someone told me about the article) and I won’t be back. Criticize all you want, but to parse words in a blatant effort to mischaracterize them to reach a predetermined conclusion is not something useful to the average reader.

The article is not worth the time it took to read it. The points are weak, misinformed, and trivial. Where Pearl said that UT could not get a coach in those quotes is beyond me. And how anyone can write an article that BP has/is/will destroy UT’s basketball program is beyond me. No matter what BP does, our program will not be in worse shape than it was with Buzz, so the premise of this article is stupid.

Pearl is a very humble guy and smart guy. Watch his interviews. His promotion of the team has often been seen as arrogance by fans that hate him (or blog writers), I see it as getting our program on a national level and BP has said as much himself.

Keep hating, and keep finishing behind UT in the SEC.
