Boston College: Please Hire Me

Jeff Jagodzinski is an idiot.

He has every right to be an idiot, but that does not make him any less of an idiot. He put himself in the position to lose a job where he has been in the conference championship the past two years just to interview for a job, I believe, he has no chance of getting.

C’mon Marve

I was a bit surprised to see the news regarding Robert Marve’s decision to transfer from Miami scroll across the screen while I was soaking in some great bowl games over the holidays. However, I was even more surprised at Yahoo sports columnist Dan Wetzel’s assessment of the situation.

Mile-High Disgrace

Normally, I find the college and pro football writings of ESPN.com’s Pat Forde light hearted and entertaining to read. However, after reading today’s article regarding the firing of the Broncos’ Mike Shanahan, Mr. Forde might want to stick to the fluff pieces and stay away from the serious analysis.

Round Mound of Nonsense

I wish I could say I was surprised when I heard Charles Barkley’s comments regarding Auburn University’s out of left field hiring of Gene Chizk as the new head football coach. While I am not too optimistic for the Auburn Tiger fans over the decision to hire Chizk, Barkley insinuating his preferred candidate, Turner Gill, was not hired due skin color is nauseating and disheartening.

We Need More Phil

Earlier this week, I laid out my reasons of why Lane Kiffin is a bad hire for the University of Tennessee football program. However, I never addressed the underlying issue of terminating the employment of Phil Fulmer to begin with. While I must admit riding the fence when the news first came out that this would be Coach Fulmer’s last season, as time passed, it became more and more evident this firing is a colossal mistake.

The Blue Workhorse Week 14 College Football Top 25

Oklahoma won impressively yet again, and it was just enough to bump them past Texas and into the Big XII championship game. With a win, they appear to be destined for the national championship against the winner of the SEC championship game. Too bad Texas can’t replace Missouri in the championship game. Now that would make for an entertaining championship weekend.

Another week means another re-evaluation, and thus, we give you our new The Blue Workhorse College Football Top 25 after Week 13. Some things to note from this week’s rankings:

Tennessee Football Heading Down Wrong Rebuilding Lane

There is nothing for Tennessee fans to be thankful for if the rumor regarding former Raiders’ head coach Lane Kiffin being offered the head coaching job at the university is true.

Of course, Mike Hamilton will not announce this decision officially while the administration tries to send current coach, Phillip Fulmer, out the door as gracefully as possible this Saturday against Kentucky. However, I believe the decision that appears to have been made is the wrong one for Tennessee football.

The Blue Workhorse Week 10 College Football Top 25

WOW! That’s about all that could be mustered after that final play of the Texas Tech/Texas ball game. What a game between two teams still with national championship aspirations. The win only makes this week’s Texas Tech/Oklahoma State game even bigger.

Speaking of big games…how about what was, before the season began, supposed to be the game of the year - Georgia/Florida? What a bore. Georgia turned the ball over repetitively and Tim Tebow capitalized every time (5 total TDs: 3 running, 2 passing).
